What is Invisalign?
Invisalign treatment uses a series of virtually invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners. A precise treatment plan will be created by your orthodontist, which includes the exact movements of your teeth and how long your treatment will last.
How does Invisalign Work?
You will wear your aligners between 20 and 22 hours a day, taking them off only for eating and brushing your teeth. As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into place. The aligners are changed every one to two weeks, depending on your unique case.
What are the Advantages of Invisalign?
Invisalign allows you to eat any foods you enjoy. There are no restrictions like there are with metal braces. Your dental hygiene is also superior with aligners because you remove them to brush and floss your teeth. They are virtually invisible so people may not even notice you are wearing braces. Plus their smooth plastic material won’t cause irritation to your cheeks and which inevitably happens with metal braces.
Patient Responsibilities with Invisalign
You must remember to remove your aligners each time you eat or brush your teeth [they are easily removed], and to wear them between 20 and 22 hours each day in order for the treatment to be effective. Aligners need to be cleaned nightly as part of your bedtime routine.
Cost
Treatments using Invisalign or braces cost essentially the same. You should discuss the pros and cons with your orthodontist to determine the best treatment for you or your child.
